NIHR pays field visits to quarantine centres

Manama, Apr. 11 (BNA): The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain has taken all preemptive measures to curb the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) while taking into consideration human rights, like the right to health and privacy. It also pointed out the kingdom’s commitment to transparency and clarity in disclosing information, thus continuing to promote its regional and international status in respecting human rights. In line with its monitoring role, stipulated in the law of its establishment, the institution’s committee started field visits to the isolation, quarantine and treatment centres and met the medical teams as well as some of the quarantined people there to get informed about adherence to human rights in such circumstances, in tune with the precautionary measures set by the World Health Organisation (WHO). NIHR added the committee will continue the field visits to different locations and meet relevant parties to ascertain of the implementation of appropriate measures in this regard and provide health and psychological consultancy to the isolated and quarantined people in a way that is consistent with human rights.
