YAA FOUNDATION LAUNCHED TO HELP NEEDY STUDENTS
KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama) -- Needy children faced with financial
difficulties to pursue their higher education can now apply for assistance from
Arshad Ayub Foundation (YAA) which was officially launched by the Ruler of
Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Sunday night.
YAA patron Arshad Ayub said the foundation was established to help
needy students who excelled in their studies to continue their higher education
in local or overseas institutions.
The foundation, formed on March 18, 2008 would also help fund local
universities to carry out specific research in any education related field.
"The foundation will help all students, no matter what race or religion, as
long as they have the necessary qualifications.
"We hope the foundation will help produce excellent students as well as
promote those who wished to pursue their studies in research," said Arshad after
the launch here Sunday.
During the launch, RM800,000 was collected, with Malayan Flour Mills Berhad
being the biggest contributor with RM100,000 while PrimaBumi Sdn Bhd and
Concrete Engineering Product Berhad added RM50,000 respectively.
