THESIS OF M'SIAN UNIVERSITY LECTURERS WILL BE PUBLISHED

KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama) -- Efforts are being made to publish thesis
by local university lecturers aimed at increasing reading materials and
encouraging the reading habit among Malaysians.

Deputy Higher Education Minister Saifudin Abdullah said the ministry
would help the lecturers in rewriting their thesis for PhD and Masters degrees
as they were full of technical terms and unreadable to the public.

"Since most of the lecturers do not have the time to rewrite their thesis,
we will help them in editing," he said after opening the convocation of Kolej
Teknologi YPC-iTWEB here Sunday.

Saifudin was commenting a statement by Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin
Yassin that Malaysians did not read much despite the high literacy
rate.

Muhyiddin who is also Education Minister said of the 85 percent Malaysians
who read, 77 percent read newspapers, three percent read books and magazines and
1.6 percent read comics.
