Bahrain's efforts to curb COVID-19 outbreak praised

Manama, Apr. 23 (BNA): British Ambassador to Bahrain Roderick Drummond has praised the preemptive measures taken by Bahrain to curb the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), protect the community and the national economy and maintain the work process in all sectors and institutions. In a round-table meeting today with representatives of the local press via the Visual Communication Technology (VCT), He lauded awareness of the Bahraini society, stressing that the Kingdom of Bahrain has been able to set a model to emulate in drawing long-term plans to protect the economy and people, as part of the efforts made to combat COVID-19. He said the exceptional situation requires taking the necessary measures in every phase. He lauded the good procedures taken by the kingdom, underlining contribution of social awareness to boosting those efforts. The British ambassador commended strong and distinguished relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom which span for more than 200 years, voicing keenness on more economic cooperation after handling coronavirus. He pointed out commitment of all institutions to the regulations issued by Bahrain in terms of social distancing, commending the key role played by the educational establishments at this time to ensure continuity of the educational process according to social distancing criteria to guarantee the safety of all. The British ambassador pointed out that the growing interest in fighting COVID-19 does not imply neglecting key regional issues, stressing readiness of all to face any potential challenges in the region.
