MOH: Safeguarding the well-being of citizens and residents is a communal responsibility

Manama, May 6 (BNA): The Ministry of Health stressed that it will continue to monitor the impact of all Coronavirus (COVID-19) mitigation efforts on the virus’s reproductive ratio (R0), and aims to achieve a rate of less than one. The Ministry asserted that achieving an R0 figure of less than one would be a strong indication that the threat presented by the virus is diminishing.
The Ministry noted that random COVID-19 testing throughout the Kingdom and dedicated contact tracing efforts to track and curtail the spread of the virus has resulted in the registration of active cases in Manama, Muharraq, Busaiteen, Budaiya, Al Eker, Nuwaidrat, Ras Zuwayed, Askar, Zallaq, Al Juffair, Riffa, Salmabad, Sitra, Jidhafs, and Alba Manufacturing Zone alongside other areas across Bahrain.
The Ministry also emphasised that as a result of close social interaction active cases were also registered at commercial stores, expatriate worker accommodations, warehouses, security and safety companies, cleaning service companies, maintenance companies and medical clinics throughout the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Health noted that safeguarding the well-being of citizens and residents is a communal responsibility that requires the cooperation of all, stressing the importance of not reverting to normal social behaviour during the resumption of usual operations at commercial and industrial businesses on 7 May 2020.
The Ministry reminds citizens and residents to adhere to health recommendations that encourage all to stay at home when possible, practice social distancing, and to wear a mask in public settings.
The Ministry stressed that it will continue random COVID-19 testing across Bahrain, redoubling efforts in this regard. The Ministry underscored that Bahrain will prevail against all challenges with the support of its aware society, strict social distancing measures, and the General Directorate for Civil Defense’s disinfection efforts that has overseen the disinfection of public spaces, and the Community Police’s public awareness endeavours.
