UPM Continues Upward Trend In QS World University Rankings 2021
KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 (Bernama) -- Universiti Putra Malaysia’s (UPM) vision of becoming an internationally renowned varsity received a huge boost when it jumped 27 spots from 159th last year to 132nd in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2021.
UPM vice-chancellor Prof Dr Aini Ideris said this was the seventh straight year of continuous improvement for the varsity, thus helping it retain its position as the second best university in Malaysia (behind Universiti Malaya).
“UPM’s performance has also seen an uptrend in almost all the indicators evaluated, with the international student indicator achieving the highest marks, in line with UPM’s efforts to strengthen international cooperation through various international programmes,” she said in a statement Wednesday.
She attributed the inspiring success to the cooperation and commitment of everyone in UPM who were determined to help UPM reach the best position in the world.
“This success has further boosted the spirit of UPM staff to continue making great strides towards achieving our aspiration and target of becoming the top 100 universities in the world in the next three years,” she said, adding that it was also in line with UPM’s vision of becoming an internationally renowned varsity.
Meanwhile, of the 1,604 international universities that were evaluated, only 1,002 varsities from 93 countries were listed when the results were announced.
