Minister chairs Foreign Ministry’s Council Meeting

Manama, June 11 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, today chaired the Foreign Ministry’s Council meeting, in the presence of Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry’s Undersecretaries, Assistant Undersecretaries, Advisors to the Minister and the Secretary of the Council.
The Council discussed a number of topics on the agenda, and approved the issuance of a number of procedures and organisational measures covering the tasks and responsibilities assigned to the Ministry’s departments and diplomatic missions abroad within the framework of the Ministry's efforts and continuous endeavours to improve performance and develop diplomatic and administrative work.
The Council agreed to issue a code of conduct for members of the diplomatic and consular corps at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to specify the responsibilities that diplomats must take to represent the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at home and abroad, to best represent and honour their country with all loyalty, competence, and sincerity
It also covers the matters to be adhered to by diplomats during their performance of the tasks assigned to them, and what they should avoid in compliance with the laws regulating diplomatic and consular work in the Kingdom.
The Council also agreed to develop the quality of recruitment of diplomats and administrators for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and to determine the sides to be responsible for recruitment, the procedures to be followed, and the conditions that must be adhered to, in implementation of the laws regulating diplomatic and administrative work in the Kingdom.
It also agreed to issue an edict to reconstitute the Grievance Committee, chaired by Assistant Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabr Al-Dossari, and to issue an edict to reconstruct the Committee for Diplomatic and Consular Corps Affairs, led by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shaikha Rana bint Issa bin Daij Al Khalifa.
The Council approved the system for internal committees at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that organises their work and determines their responsibilities and duties, and the procedures to be followed in order for the internal committees to be able to carry out the work entrusted to them in an efficient and competent manner and in accordance with national regulations.
The meeting reviewed the report submitted by the Committee on Follow-up of the Governmental Work Programme, chaired by Undersecretary for Regional Affairs and GCC Affairs, Ambassador Waheed Mubarak Sayyar, and agreed on the contained initiatives that the Ministry intends to include in the government work programme in order to fulfill its responsibilities of enriching Government work.
The Council also considered a number of development projects that the Ministry intends to undertake, and instructed the relevant departments to take the necessary administrative and legal measures to implement them.
On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his thanks and appreciation for the sincere efforts made by the concerned departments of the Ministry to develop performance, organise work and improve it, praising the attention and support given by the senior officials to the efforts of their employees and the diplomatic missions abroad in implementing the directives of His Majesty the King, achieving the country’s foreign policy’s goals and enhancing its regional and international standing.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his pride and gratitude for the care and support he receives from His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, stressing the keenness of the Ministry and its officials and employees to perform the tasks and responsibilities assigned to them in the best way possible.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs commended the outstanding performance and good efforts made by officials and competent departments in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enhance and support national efforts to face the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic.
He praised the performance of the diplomatic missions abroad and the continuous efforts they are making to facilitate the return of Bahraini citizens to the homeland. He stressed the need to continue making more diplomatic and administrative efforts to develop performance and upgrade work to achieve the goals of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and support the path of sustainable development in the Kingdom.
