FOUR NEW PEUGEOT MODELS TO BE LAUNCHED NEXT YEAR
KUALA TERENGGANU (Malaysia), April 22 (Bernama) -- The Naza Group of Companies,
holder of the distributor franchise for Peugeot cars in Malaysia through its
wholly-owned subsidiary, Nasim Sdn Bhd, is to launch four new models of the
French-made car next year albeit the world economic crisis.
Two of the models will be luxury cars while the other two are for the open
market.
Automotif Naza Group Manager C. K. Chow said though the company had started
to feel the impact of the world economic crisis with 10 to 20 per cent drop
in car sales this year, it was optimistic in the market for such cars.
"This is because the European model car has its own enthusiasts in Malaysia.
This is proven from the sale of two new peugeot models -- Peugeot 308 VTI and
308 Turbo.
About 300 units of the cars have been sold since the launch in January, he
told reporters after opening the KS Kemaman, the 19th peugeot sales, service and
spare parts centre, at Jalan Air Putih here Tuesday.
On the slowing down of peugeot sales, Chow said the company was not worried
as the interest to buy peugeot cars was still high with the low interest rate
offer now.
He said the company had mapped out strategies to maintain sales performance.
"We've adjusted spare part prices and service charges to be cheaper or at
least on par with Japanese cars," he said.
Chow said Naza Group also planned to expand the 3S (sales, service and spare
parts) network of outlets to facilitate peugeot owners to enjoy efficient and
effective after sales service.
He said such a centre was opened in Kemaman as the area had good market
potential especially among workers of the petroleum and gas industries.
Peugeot is the sole European car to have a sales centre in Kemaman, thus
givng the company an advantage besides providing more alternatives to potential
car buyers.
