Foreign Minister stresses Bahrain’s support to Egypt’s initiative

Manama, June 23 (BNA): Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani participated today via video conference in Arab League Council’s session on Libya.
Chaired by the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman, Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, the virtual session was also attended by Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
Addressing the virtual session, he said that the situation in Libya is regrettable and worrying, reflecting the state of division in the Arab world.
He underlined regional polarization and international conflicts which have a negative impact on Libya, its people, neighboring countries, Arab national security, and the entire region.
He noted especially the continued flow of armed and mercenary militias into Libyan territory, the c financial funding from some countries, and clear media support, which deepens divisions between the parties to the conflict in Libya fuelled the fighting and leads to more bloodshed.
He stressed Bahrain’s support to to the unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity and stability of Libya, backing all efforts aimed aimed at rebuilding the Libyan state, tackle forms of terrorism and get rid of terrorist groups, to meet the aspirations of the Libyan people.
He affirmed Bahrain’s support of the Cairo Initiative, which was announced by Egyptian President President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to settle the Libyan crisis, urging all parties to cease the immediate ceasefire, and to respond to this initiative.
