NIHR praises Interior Ministry, LMRA role in combating trafficking in persons

Manama, June 30 (BNA): Bahrain's success in maintaining Tier 1 status in the annual report of the US Department of State on the classification of countries in the field of combating trafficking in persons for the third straight year is a reflection of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s keenness to provide all human rights to citizens and residents alike, Maria Khoury, President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), said. She praised the great efforts of the Interior Ministry and Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) to combat the phenomenon of trafficking in persons, protect migrant workers and their cooperation in educating society by launching a number of awareness campaigns in several languages. She added that the combined efforts of all national bodies were the reason behind maintaining the achievement for three years in a row.
