From Abdul Aziz Harun
SANTIAGO (Chile), April 23(Bernama) -- The Malaysian King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, and his consort Tuanku Nur Zahirah, ended their state visit to Chile Wednesday.
Among those at the Santiago International Airport to bid them farewell were
Papricio Becker, acting Director of the Department of Ceremony and Protocol,
Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chilean ambassador to Malaysia Hose Menuel
Ovalle and Malaysian ambassador to Chile Abdullah Faiz Mohd Zain.
The Malaysian royal couple arrived here Sunday and had an audience with
Chilean President Michelle Bachelet on Monday.
Their next stop is Uruguay.
Earlier in the morning, Tuanku Mizan visited the Chilean Mounted Police Unit
headquarters at the Calle Cuacho Verde where he was received by Chilean Chief of
Police General Eduardo Gordon.
A group of riders from the unit then thrilled his majesty and the other
guests with a display of their skill in handling horses, demonstrating some
amazing moves in equestrian showmanship.
Meanwhile, in a separate programme, Tuanku Nur Zahirah visited the Fina
Artesania Chilena (FABA) to have a look at the fine display of lapis lLazuli, an
attractive semi-precious stone found only in Chile and Afghanistan.
