Kyrgyzstan prepares for flu and SARS epidemic in autumn-winter period

Bishkek, July 9, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan is preparing for flu and SARS epidemic expected to take place in autumn-winter period, Head of the Public Health Department of the Health Ministry Ainura Akmatova said during a news briefing.
Today, the rate of the disease calls to be vigilant not only the Health Ministry and the Government, but also for people themselves.
"Increase in incidence is expected to rise in the autumn-winter period, which has previously led to pneumonia with complications. In this regard, a group of researchers in our country, together with Oxford University scientists, continues to work on forecasting and modeling the situation. In April, there were already predictions for the worst and best outcomes. We are now experiencing the worst scenario. The forecast for autumn will be submitted to the Health Ministry by the end of the month," she said.
Nevertheless, measures are already being taken today to prevent the situation in the regions and throughout the republic from worsening in autumn and winter.
"Plans have been drawn up to deploy beds, provide heat, supply coal, purchase medicines and PPE, as well as to ensure personnel capacity," Akmatova added.
In addition, she noted that scientists have proposed increasing flu and pneumococcal vaccination.
