MALAYSIA AND KYRGYZ REPUBLIC ENHANCE TIES




KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 (Bernama) -- Officials from Malaysia and Kyrgyz
Republic met Wednesday at the Sixth Special Joint Commission Meeting held in
Bishkek, Kyrgyz where both sides discussed measures to further enhance ties and
cooperation.

In a statement, the Malaysian embassy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, said among
the areas of cooperation identified were in the Islamic banking and finance,
science, technology and ICT, halal industry promotion, tourism, health and
education.

The Malaysian delegation, led by Prime Minister's Department's Economic
Planning Unit Director-General Dr Sulaiman Mahbob, comprised Malaysian
Ambassador to Kyrgyz Republic Abdul Aziz Harun and several senior officials
representing various agencies.

Kyrgyz Republic's delegation was headed by chairman of the state committee
on state-owned property Tursun Turdumambetov.

During the trip, the Malaysian delegation were honoured by Kyrgyz Republic's
Prime Minister Igor Chudinov who conveyed his congratulatory remarks on the
recent appointment of Najib Razak as the Malaysian prime minister.
