GOOD READING HABIT ON THE RISE

KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 (Bernama) -- The number of visitors to the National
Library is on the rise and the membership is expected to reach one million by
year end, its deputy director-general, Siti Rodziah Othman, said Thursday.

She said the increase was due to the library's continuous efforts to
inculcate the reading habit among the public through its campaigns and
programmes.

The library now had 900,000 members, she told reporters after launching the
"Let's Read Together" programme here.

The programme, aimed at encouraging good reading habit among the
schoolchildren, was held in conjunction with the World Bo ok and Copyright Day
and will be extended to public libraries nationwide.
