Assistant Foreign Minister values Bahrain's strategic partnership with UN

Manama, Aug. 9 (BNA): Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al-Doseri, met today through video conference the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)'s Resident Representative to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Stefano Pettinato.
Minister Plenipotentiary at the Human Rights Directorate, Mohammed Rashed Al-Suwaidi, and the Resident Coordinator Office Team Leader, John Fahy, participated in the meeting.
The Assistant Foreign Minister welcomed Mr. Pettinato, hailing the important role played by the UNDP in various areas. He also discussed ways of developing cooperation and strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Bahrain and UN agencies to support development and humanitarian efforts in the Kingdom of Bahrain and achieve the desired goals.
He also lauded the role of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in promoting rights, highlighting the importance of cooperation and joint action in issues that would promote substantive and technical cooperation and exchange of experience in all areas of human rights.
Pettinato expressed his pride in the continuous progress of the current partnership between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Nations and its different agencies, organs and specialized programmes, stressing the readiness of the UNDP’s Office to the Kingdom of Bahrain to develop the relations of cooperation and joint coordination and to help in preparing the national plan for human rights.
It is worth noting that the Kingdom of Bahrain has started wide consultations to develop a concept for preparing a national plan for human rights in the Kingdom in accordance with a number of basic objectives that the Kingdom seeks to achieve according to a schedule to complete more achievements and developments in many areas of human rights and sustainable development.
