DOCTOR CHOPS OFF A HAND EACH FROM WIFE, LOVER
By P. Vijian
NEW DELHI, April 28 (Bernama) -- An enraged doctor, suspecting his
newly-wedded wife of having an affair with her cousin, took matters into his own
hands.
He chopped off a right hand each, from the lovers.
The wife's hand was still adorned with her gold wedding bangles as the
doctor and his two relatives who were accomplices to the crime in Amritsar on
Sunday night, helped him dispose off the limbs.
The trio packed the hands in a gunny sack and discarded it in a garbage dump
before fleeing from the scene.
They were later arrested by the police to facilitate investigations.
The doctor's wife and her alleged lover were warded in a hospital but
doctors failed to re-attach their limbs.
"As the limbs were recovered after over 12 hours, we are unable to re-attach
them.
"Had they been recovered within the first six hours of the incident, we
could have saved the hands," Dr Sukhwinder Singh, who is attached to the
hospital, told the Indo Asian News Agency Monday.
The agency reported that the doctor who is under police custody had
suspected his wife of six months to be involved in an affair with her cousin.
He decided to teach them a lesson they would not forget.
Together with two relatives, the doctor lured his wife's unsuspecting lover
for a drink outside their house on Sunday night in Pattil, a border town in
Amritsar.
After getting the man drunk, the doctor and his relatives chopped the
victim's right hand, using a knife.
The trio later rushed to the doctor's house and chopped his wife's right
hand.
