NEW DATE FOR SEPANG DRAG BATTLE

KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- The opening round of the 2009 Sepang
International Circuit (SIC) Drag Battle has been deferred to May 23, instead of
May 2 as schedule earlier.

SIC media manager Irwan A. Rahman said the postponement was due to the
arrival of brand-new timing equipments from the United States.

"With the entries growing, the race is getting more serious for the
front-runners. Faulty readings from our machines will obviously affect the
sports," he said in a statement Monday.

SIC has also moved the dates for other rounds in this season's Drag Battle
calendar. They are June 27 (second round), July 18 (third round), Oct 31 (fourth
round) and Nov 21 (final round).

The drag race involves a 400m stretch at Sepang Circuit's famous
start/finish straight from the opposite direction.
