PM TO CONTINUE BUSINESS-FRIENDLY POLICIES, SAYS MINISTER

From Minggu Simon Lhasa

LONDON, April 28 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Najib Razak will continue
Malaysia's business-friendly policies, underpinned by the uniting philosophy of
One Malaysia, International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed said
Monday.

There will be continuity in some of the policies of the previous
administration under his predecessor Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, and at the same time
a number of fundamental changes will be introduced to ensure that Malaysia will
continue to be an attractive destination for investments, he said.

Najib will continue the initiatives introduced by Abdullah such as focusing
on the improvement of the public delivery system and enhancing transparency and
integrity in the public service and strengthening of Malaysian institutions, he
assured UK investors.

"Najib is not only an experienced hand but a leader who is well prepared for
the job, with many ministerial positions he has held in the past 33 years," said
Mustapa in a keynote address at the Seminar on Trade and Investment
Opportunities in Malaysia held here.

The seminar is held in conjunction with the ongoing trade and investment
mission to Europe organised by Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA)
and Malaysia External Trade Corporation (Matrade).

London is the last destination of the mission which covered three cities,
and the first with Mustapa making an appearance as the head of delegation of
such a mission since assuming the ministerial post early this month.

Mustapa said the One Malaysia philosophy introduced by Najib is an overall
philosophy of multi-racial, multi-cultural, multi-religious Malaysia living
together in harmony, building trust and mutuial respect.

For the business context, it is about forging a closer relationship between
the public and private sectors, and for building enterprises that are based on
genuine partnerships among the various communities, he said.
