Al Shaqab Racing's SAINT MORITZ, DUHAIL Capture Victory in France

Paris, October 26 (QNA) - Al Shaqab Racing's homebred juvenile filly SAINT MORITZ (FR) (Olympic Glory x Shagah) got off the mark in a 1,850m maiden race, winning the Prix de l'Association des Proprietaires du Sud Ouest at Agen, France. The Simone Brogi trainee began her career by finishing fifth in a mile race at Bordeaux last month and made it second time lucky, stepping up in distance this time at Agen. SAINT MORITZ clearly dominated the contest at Agen to score a comfortable two-length win. She easily held the challenge of VEDVOKOV (FR) (Scissor Kick) at bay. The latter, who finished second under Emilien Revolte, a useful type from the Didier Guillemin stable, has never finished worse than third in five attempts and is clearly more experienced than the winner. LAVANDIER (GB) (Zoffany) was further three-quarters of a length behind in third for trainer Franois Rohaut and jockey Matthias Lauron. After being held-up in mid-division, DUHAIL (IRE) (Lope De Vega x Single), the Al Shaqab Racing's runner, landed the spoils in the Prix Major Fridolin, the feature handicap on the ParisLongchamp card on Sunday, 25 October 2020. The Andr Fabre-trained four-year-old gelding delivered some performance in the seven-furlong race as he defied the welter burden of 63.5 kilos (10st), which entailed him giving some nine kilos to the eventual second, LA POUTANESCA (IRE) (Falco). DUHAIL was able to hold off the challenge of his rival to win by a half a length with Vincent Cheminaud. LA POUTANESCA was the runner-up for trainer D. Smaga and jockey Stephane Pasquier. MILLFIELD (FR) (Whipper) was further 1-lengths back in third for the same trainer of the runner-up and jockey Cristian Demuro Second in Listed company last season, the DUHAIL clearly has the ability to do well at that level, particularly as he seems to relish some give in the ground.
