QOC Padel Tournament Concludes Successfully in One of the Facilities Listed in Doha 2030 Asian Games File
Doha, November 02 (QNA) - Al-Sadd Sports Club Hall, one of the facilities listed in the Doha file to host the 2030 Asian Games, has successfully hosted the Qatar Olympic Committee's second edition of the Padel Tournament.
More than 300 players representing all sectors of society participated in the five-day tournament which was held within the framework of QOC community program "Sports for Life" which aims at encouraging all members of society to adopt healthy lifestyles.
QOC organized the Padel Tournament to provide the opportunity for all groups to practice sports safely amidst the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. More than 300 players and 150 teams participated in the tournament. The list of participants included many local influential figures in the media and on social media platforms.
The tournament was held in accordance with the preventive measures applied by the State of Qatar to protect all participants from the risk of infection with the coronavirus.
Alex Garcia and Angel Carrasco won the first place in Category A, while Mohammed Saadoun and Gonzalo Sacho won the second place and Khalid Saadoun and Abdullah Hajji won the third place. In Category B, Rashid Nawwaf and Hamad Nawwaf won the first place, Jassem Al Mulla and George Perez won the second place, and Mohammed Al Shaabi and Abdullah Al Muezzin won the third place. In Category C, Abdullah Al Shaabi and Abdulrahman Al Shaabi won the first place, Abdullah Al Jaber and Ibrahim Al Najjar won the second place, and Salah Aqil and Casper won the third place.
Commenting on the occasion, CEO of Doha 2030 Asian Games Bid Committee and QOC Secretary-General Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain said: "We are fortunate to have so many huge sports facilities in the State of Qatar, which enables us to provide these opportunities in a healthy and safe environment".
"Emphasizing that Qatar and the region as a whole benefit from these sports facilities is a fundamental pillar of our file to host the Asian Games," he stressed.
Al-Sadd Sports Club Hall, one of the sports facilities listed for snooker and billiards in the Doha 2030 file, will continue to serve community members and professional athletes alike before and after 2030.
Padel is one of the proposed sports in the Doha 2030 Asian Games program, given its increasing popularity in recent years. (QNA)
