Al-Sharq: Peace in Afghanistan Is Necessary to Stop Violence, Restore Security

Doha, November 03 (QNA) - Al-Sharq newspaper condemned in its editorial Tuesday the horrific attack that took place yesterday at Kabul University, which led to the deaths and injuries, stressing the need to reach full and comprehensive peace in Afghanistan to prevent intimidating the safe civilians and killing innocent people and to save the country from the scourge of war. In this context, the Qatari daily highlighted the State of Qatar's condemnation of the attack that took place at Kabul University, which affirms Doha's firm stance on rejecting violence and terrorism, whatever the motives and causes. The paper pointed out that in light of the worsening security situation and the escalation of military operations and explosions, it has become necessary to resort to the voice of reason in order to achieve security and peace in Afghanistan, stressing the need to focus on development and construction. The newspaper stressed on the importance of peace talks between all Afghan parties, as it is a unique opportunity to bring peace, underlining that the State of Qatar has been working for years to bring peace and stability to Afghanistan, as Doha hosted the peace talks between the United States and Taliban, which culminated in a historic agreement last February between the two sides. The State of Qatar was also able to overcome the obstacles to the negotiations in order to reach the ultimate goal of establishing a comprehensive peace in Afghanistan, Al-Sharq stated. The paper noted the keenness of the State of Qatar, as a sponsor for the peace of Afghanistan, on making the Afghan peace negotiations a success, based on its noble moral trends in international relations. In conclusion, Al-Sharq said that Doha has been a reliable partner for all parties in light of its balanced and positive role, thus becoming a main and effective partner in making peace in Afghanistan, adding that Qatar has presented to the world a distinguished model in promoting peace, based on moral foundations and a unique foreign policy.
