Bahrain-UK cooperation subcommittee holds meeting

Manama, Nov.10 (BNA): The Multilateral Cooperation Subcommittee of the Bahrain-UK Joint Working Group Meeting was held today. It was chaired by the Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and the Deputy Director and Head of the United Nations and Multilateral Department of the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Neil Briscoe. The session was in preparation for the 13th Bahrain-UK Joint Working Group, which will be hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain, next Thursday, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and FCDO’s Minister for Middle East and North Africa, James Cleverly. The meeting discussed the most prominent areas of bilateral cooperation and means to develop them, in addition to issues of common concern, as well as the ongoing efforts to combat COVID-19 and the importance of addressing its various repercussions. The Undersecretary affirmed the deep historical relations that extend for more than two hundred years between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom, which are based on foundations of respect, mutual appreciation and close cooperation. He expressed his pride in the central role that the United Kingdom plays in preserving security and stability in the region and the world. He also hailed the positive outcomes of this meeting, which will contribute to enhancing growth of joint cooperation and solid friendship relations and frameworks between the two countries at all levels.
