Al-Watan Affirms Qatar's Keenness to Protect, Stabilize Region

Doha, November 19 (QNA) - Qatari daily newspaper Al-Watan affirmed in its Thursday editorial that the years of the unjust blockade imposed on the State of Qatar have demonstrated the country's success in strengthening the cards of power that helped the country overcome the blockade and adhere to it's vision to solve the crisis through direct dialogue between the concerned parties. Qatar's success also comes from strengthening its external relations, in addition to being able to achieve internal economic sufficiency, which was demonstrated during the coronavirus crisis, the newspaper highlighted. Despite the blockade, the State of Qatar was keen on the survival and strengthening of the GCC and never stopped participating in all its meetings, Al-Watan pointed out. The newspaper referred to HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani's affirmation that Qatar have good intentions for a constructive engagement with the blockading countries to reach a fair resolution and added that the only consequence of this crisis is more instability in the region. The paper praised the Qatari support for the efforts made by the late Amir of Kuwait HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, now carried out by HH the Amir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, as indicated by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs during the 2020 'Virtual' Global Security Forum. Al-Watan emphasized that Qatar always believed in the principle of dialogue as a means to resolve any dispute and still believes that the Gulf crisis can be resolved through dialogue based on mutual respect for the sovereignty of each country, referring to His Excellency's assertion that there is no winner from the Gulf crisis. Concluding its editorial, Al-Watan stated that Qatar's position towards the Gulf crisis has always been characterized by stability and the primacy of the common interest, emphasizing Qatar's firm belief that the GCC is the best tool for protecting the security and stability of the region and promoting it at all levels.
