Interior Minister attends the ISA virtual meeting

Manama, Dec.9, (BNA): Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa participated on Wednesday in the virtual International Security Alliance (ISA) 3rd Ministerial Meeting.
The event attended by member countries, Kingdom of Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Italy, Slovakia, France, Israel, Spain, Senegal and Singapore. The ISA General Secretariat is based in Abu Dhabi, and the alliance was announced in the UAE in February 2017.
ISA is like a forum to exchange expertise and spread the best practices and training methods in policing and fighting organised and cross-border crimes.
The minister thanked in his speech Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the UAE. He also welcomed the Ministers from the new members' countries.
He expressed appreciation for the valuable cooperation programmes summarised in the presentations and endorsement of the proposals for the 2021-2022 timeframe.
He highlighted confidence that these will play an important role in strengthening shared security, and productive cooperation to deliver the maximum possible benefits for member countries.
He pointed out the risks of extremism and the tactics extremists take in the full range of media, political and other measures including, the use or threat of violence in the streets.
He stressed the importance of looking at what such groups actually do, not just what they say. At the same time, they can put on performances for the international media and NGOs and appear to be peaceful. It is simply a cover for their true activities and ambitions.
The meeting reviewed topics of common interest and the reinforcement of methods to exchange experiences and expertise to unify efforts in fighting security challenges and set joint crime-fighting strategies within international police infrastructure to combat future security threats.
The event reviewed various topics, including facing extremism in its early stages, money laundering and cybercrimes training and applications of drones for criminal activities.
