Foreign Ministry’s Undersecretary participates in CICA’s Senior Officials Committee meeting

Manama, Dec. 11 (BNA): The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, participated in the meeting of the Senior Officials Committee of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), held virtually today, under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Minister and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Shahrat Nurishyev. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah Al Khalifa expressed his thanks to the Republic of Tajikistan for its presidency of the CICA conference during the last period, and for its efforts in promoting the work of the gathering. He also congratulated the Republic of Kazakhstan on assuming the presidency of the conference. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's appreciation for the efforts made by CICA to build confidence and cooperation in Asia, including the inclusion of the new confidence-building measure “Cooperation in the field of health care, epidemiological safety and pharmaceuticals,” reflecting the concern that member states are paying to face the consequences of the COVID-19, to develop joint cooperation in broader ways at all levels. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah Al Khalifa indicated that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, believes that the interests and goals of Asian countries are common and united, in light of what unites them, in terms of values and ties that contribute to promoting peace, development and prosperity. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs reviewed the measures taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to confront the COVID-19, noting the impressive success achieved by Team Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah Al Khalifa stated that the Kingdom has provided comprehensive and free health care for all citizens and residents, out of its belief in the unity of common human values. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah Al Khalifa affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's support for CICA and the development of its work with a modern vision, in order to contribute to building a new Asia, enable the convergence of individuals, ideas and cultures, and support sustainable development, in the interests and well-being of the peoples of the assembly.
