Shura Council chairman hails HM the King’s nation-building role

Manama, Dec.12(BNA): The Al-Nafea Majlis opened this evening the third annual forum themed “King..Leader..Man” under the patronage of the patronage of the Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh.
The event was part of celebratory festivities on the occasion of the Kingdom of Bahrain's national celebrations on 16 and 17 December, in commemoration of the establishment of the modern Bahraini state as an Arab and Muslim country founded by Ahmed Al-Fateh in 1783, the 48th anniversary of its full membership in the United Nations, and the 20th anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accession to the throne.
Adressing the event, the Shura Council Chairman extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa wishing him health, happiness and long life to continue leading the march of development towards a prosperous future.
He emphasised the importance of the democratic transformation since HM the King assumed power in 1999, laying the foundations for building the state of law and institutions by launching his reform project.
He hailed Bahrain;s landmark and pioneering achievements in terms of political reform, democracy, economic and human development, protection of the rights of women and children, and the respect for fundamental rights and liberties, the separation of powers, and the promotion of popular participation.
He said that the National Action Charter was endorsed on February 14, 2001, by a sweeping 98.4% of the popular votes, pointing out the constitutional amendments and the establishment of the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2002, paving the way for theb bicameral system (National Assembly).
He stressed HM the King’s keenness on promoting human rights, coexistence and religious freedoms, which stem from cultural heritage, highlighting the pioneering royal initiatives in this field.
He cited particularly the establishment of King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence and the inaguaration of King Hamad's Chair in Inter-faith Dialogue and Peaceful Co-existence . at the University of Sapienza in Italy, in addition to the establishment of the Abdulla bin Khalid College of Islamic Studies.
Al-Saleh hailed HM the King’s noble humanitarian stances and honourable initiatives in support of other brotherly and friendly countres, praising Bahrain’s sucesss during the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
He lauded the Governent’s dynamism as well as the efforts of the Executive Committee, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The Shura Council chairman paid homage to late HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa, hailing his efforts and legacy in serving the nation over five decades.
He also praised HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s efforts and strong determination to further development strides, led by HM the King.
