NIHR President praises police's role in maintaining security

Manama, Dec. 14 (BNA): President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Maria Khouri, and members of the Board of Commissioners extended congratulations to the Minister of Interior and all ministry affiliates on Bahrain Police Day which is observed on December 14 every year. She affirmed the big role played by Bahrain police in ensuring security and stability by enforcing the law and protecting human rights. She stressed that the right to live in security and peace is inalienable. Khouri pointed out that balancing between security and human rights is not an easy thing as they are inextricably linked and one reinforces the other. She lauded the efforts of the Ministry of Interior in promoting the concept of community partnership by providing a wide range of social and humanitarian services. The President of NIHR concluded by saying that the progress of any country is measured by the extent of its commitment to the rule of law and its respect for human rights. “Human rights cannot be protected without the existence of the rule of law,” she added.
