HM King's leading role in strengthening GCC integration praised

Cairo, Dec. 31 (BNA): Arab Parliament Speaker Adel Abdulrahman Al Assoomi has lauded the leading role of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in supporting Gulf cohesion and strengthening the foundations of joint Gulf action in all fields. The distinguished contributions and initiatives by HM King to develop work mechanisms within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) since its inception based on HM the King's belief in the unity of purpose, destiny and the shared interests of the GCC peoples, he added. HM the King's deep interest in bolstering inter-Gulf cooperation at all levels is a major pillar of the royal integrated approach to boost foreign policy, the Speaker said. He pointed out that HM the King has presided over four GCC summits since he assumed power during which numerous steps have been taken towards GCC integration in several areas, including the economy, security and the military. HM King Hamad was among the first leaders to support the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud regarding Gulf integration presented at the GCC summit in December 2015, he added.
