Assistant Foreign Minister meets with Head of Mission of International Organization for Migration, Acting Resident Coordinator of UN Activities in Bahrain

Manama, Jan. 5 (BNA): Assistant Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabur Al-Doseri met virtually today with Head of Mission of the International Organization for Migration and Acting Resident Coordinator of the United Nations activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mohammed Al-Zarqani, and the Regional Representative for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region, Roueida El Hage. During the meeting, the Assistant Foreign Minister commended constructive cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the UN agencies and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. He praised their active participation in the consultative process for preparing the national plan for human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He also lauded the participation of relevant international expertise in the consultative workshops that provided an added qualitative, unique and international value. He reviewed Bahrain's exceptional efforts in combating COVID-19. For his part, Mr. Mohammed Al-Zarqani expressed the UN willingness to enhance constructive cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain in various fields, especially in human rights, in accordance with international standards. He also noted the advanced relations between the two sides, and the Kingdom of Bahrain's distinguished efforts in combating COVID-19, wishing Bahrain further progress and prosperity. The meeting was attended by Development Coordination Officer, Mr. John Fahy, and Team Leader of the Office of the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Ms. Asmara Ashkar. The meeting spotlighted a number of issues related to bilateral cooperation and coordination between the two sides.
