Iran among 5 states with cyber warfare capabilities: US institute

A US military and security institute has in its latest report described Iran as one the five states with the cyber warfare capabilities.

Referring to figures published by the US Central Inteligence Agency, the Defense Tech institute said that Iran has made a fair progress in cyber-warfare capabilities.

In an article titled 'Iranian Cyber Warfare Assessment', the institute said, Iran's cyber warfare capabilities were managed by a subsidiary to Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).

The Defense Tech has estimated Iran's 'cyber force size at 2,400', adding that the size of its 'reserves and militia is estimated at 1,200'.

According to the US institute, the IRGC has allocated a budget of some US$76 million to its cyber warfare sector.

"Iran has the capacity to meet large domestic demand for software and at the same time become internationally competitive," said the institute in its comments on Iran's software capability.
