Foreign Minister highlights HM the King’s peace vision

Manama, Jan.26 (BNA): Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain's signature on the Abraham Accords Declaration is an embodiment of the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He said HM the King’s vision stresses the importance of promoting peace and stability towards further prosperity in the Middle East and the world as a whole, which reflects the Bahraini society's long-standing culture of openness, tolerance and coexistence, stemming from its values and belief in peace and brotherhood among the peoples of the world, and resolving differences through dialogue, understanding and mutual respect. The minister made the remarks as addressed the annual conference organized by the Institute for National Security Studies in the State of Israel, with the participation of the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Gabi Ashkenazi. Dr Al Zayani noted that Bahrain has demonstrated its adherence to this approach, which is showcased through the important and tangible steps it has taken. He cited Bahrain Declaration on religious tolerance issued in 2017, hosting the Peace to Prosperity workshop in 2019, and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding last year between the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence and the Office of the Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism at the US Department of State. He added that all these matters confirm the approach of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its desire, along with the United Arab Emirates and the State of Israel, to proceed towards the promising opportunities to consolidate efforts to bring peace to the region. He affirmed that establishment of diplomatic relations by the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates with the State of Israel would bring about broad and deep cooperation that would achieve tangible benefits for the three countries, encouraging everyone to participate in efforts to achieve security, stability and prosperity for the region. He said that the implementation of the many agreements and memoranda of understanding signed is pivotal, expressing his optimism for commencing a network of real cooperation gradually spreading throughout the Middle East, thus achieving real and lasting peace, security and prosperity for the peoples of the region. he expressed his hope that this momentum will also be translated into renewed progress towards resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of the two-state solution, as it is an important basis for establishing a just and lasting peace in the region, in addition to building regional confidence. He noted that in the foreseeable future the Middle East will be a major region of international interest, and the United States will continue to play a vital role to maintain its security and stability. He said that he believed that the United States will continue to support this trend towards stability and peace in the region, given that the prospects for better relations between the countries of the Middle East are undoubtedly among the priorities of the US administration. Dr Al Zayani stressed the importance of having the new US administration consult with the governments of the region on the issues and challenges it faces, including the Iranian nuclear file and its interference in the internal affairs of the countries of the region, so that these urgent issues and challenges can be addressed in a way that fully meets the legitimate interests of said countries in order to achieve lasting security and stability in the Middle East for all.
