Qatar Team Top on Day 1 of Qatar International Open Parachuting Championship
Doha, February 06 (QNA) - The competitions of Qatar International Open Parachuting Championship, which was inaugurated on Friday by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, officially kicked off today.
Held under the patronage of HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs in the Sealine region, Qatari cohesion quadruple parachuting team consisting of Hamad Al Marri, Fahd Al Shammari, Abdulaziz Al Shammari and Rashid Al Kubaisi won in today's competitions with 161 points after three rounds followed by German team in second place with 136 points, the Moroccan team in third place with 118 points, and Austrian team in fourth place with 60 points.
The Qatar International Open Parachuting Championship, which continues until Wednesday, is supported by HE Commander of the Joint Special Forces and Chairman of the Qatar Air Sports Committee Major General Hamad bin Abdullah Al Fetais Al Marri.
The tournament is held as part of the preparations for the World Military Parachuting Championship (CISM 2021), which Doha will host from November 15 to 20, with the participation of eight countries: Qatar, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Slovenia, Libya, Palestine, and Morocco.
According to the international law for parachuting competitions, and the World Air Sports Federation (FAI), and the regulations of the CISM Parachuting Committee, each country has the right to participate with only one team in each competition, and the player is allowed to participate in more than one competition.
The tournament is held in compliance with the laws of air navigation and the regulations and instructions of parachuting competitions, in accordance with international law issued by FAI.
Quadruple parachuting teams consist of four players plus one reserve player. (QNA)
