Vietnam Buddhist Sangha holds celebration in Moscow
Moscow (VNA) - A grand ceremony to celebrate the 2,553rd birthday of
Buddha was held at the Vietnamese Embassy in Moscow on May 3 under the chairmanship of Most Venerable Thich Gia Quang.
Thich Gia Quang is leading a delegation of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha
Central Committee on a tour to propagate Dharma in Eastern Europe .
Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Bui Dinh Dinh, said the Dharma propagation
delegation's visit helps to improve the spiritual life of the Vietnamese
community in Russia in Russia and boost solidarity among the
community.
Most Venerable Thich Gia Quang explained the significance of Buddha's
birthday celebration, stressing that Buddhism means peace, social equality
and non-discrimination of class and race.
According to the monk, Russia is the last leg of the tour after the
delegation had visited the Czech Republic , Poland , Hungary , Germany
and Ukraine .
Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Head of the Liaison Board of the Vietnamese Buddhism
Lovers Association in Moscow , said that Vietnamese Buddhism lovers in
Russia always keep close contact with their roots and try to maintain the
