Manama, Feb. 15 (BNA): South Korea’s National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seug has hailed the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to promote peace and co-existence in the region. “The Bahraini leadership has stressed ambitions to establish peace and coexistence in the region. And HM the King pays great attention to achieving peace in the region and prosperity in Bahrain,” said Park Byeong-seug, the first Korean Speaker to visit the Kingdom. He noted that "HM the King is very interested in developing the living standards of Bahrainis people and Bahrain has paid great attention to combating the COVID-19 pandemic through the preventive measures it has taken." Park Byeong-seug said that thanks to the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the constant care of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Prime Minister and Crown Prince, Bahrain has been making great progress in various fields. “After 45 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bahrain and South Korea, it is a great honor to visit the country especially as it coincides with the 20th anniversary of the National Action Charter (NAC), which is an important milestone in the development of Bahraini democracy," the Speaker told Bahrain News Agency (BNA). During his visit to the Kingdom, Park met HM the King, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Council of Representative and the Chairman of the Shura Council. The meeting with HM the King stressed the importance of cooperation between Bahrain and Asia in general and South Korea in particular, he said, adding there is ongoing cooperation in the field of construction and infrastructure. The Speaker pointed out to the numerous points in common between Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and the policy of The Korean New Deal (Digital New Deal) or (Green New Deal) practiced by the Korean government at the present time after it was announced on July 14. The deal is set to invest $130 Billion to support the creation of 903,000 jobs to accelerate the transition towards a digital economy, while investment will focus on the integration of data, network and AI (DNA) throughout the economy. “The two countries are aiming for the same vision. Therefore, we can cooperate in the field of future industries, including arms, education, culture and others,” Park Byeong-seug said. “I have invited Bahrain's Speaker to visit Seoul to establish the Korea-Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Association, and thus we will witness more parliamentary exchanges between the two countries in the near future,” he said. South Korean Ambassador to Bahrain Hae Kwan Chung stressed that Park's visit is very important and that it will have a significant impact and contribution to enhancing the cooperation between the two countries at various levels. “I am very glad about the visit and I am confident that its great success will boost the interests of our two countries and peoples," the ambassador said.
