Foreign Minister receives call from US Envoy to Yemen

Manama, Feb.21 (BNA): Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, received a phone call from the US Special Envoy to Yemen, Timothy A. Lenderking and congratulated him on assuming his diplomatic position. He reiterated Bahrain’s keenness to provide all forms of support and assistance to support US-led efforts aimed at achieving peace and security in Yemen and in the region as a whole. The two sides discussed political and security developments in Yemen in light of the Houthis escalation in different parts of the country and targeting of civilian facilities and civilian-populated areas in Saudi Arabia. They reviewed efforts aimed at resuming the negotiations to reach a political solution that ends the ongoing war and fulfills the hopes of the Yemeni people for peace and stability. They also stressed the importance of joint coordination between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America to activate peace efforts led UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, to reach a comprehensive political settlement to the Yemeni crisis.
