Shaikh Ibrahim Centre to host Egyptian Soprano on Monday

Manama, Feb.27 (BNA): The Shaikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research will host prominent Egyptian Opera singer and soprano Amira Selim. The renowned artist will perform a recital themed “Musical Voyage” on Monday (March 1) at 08:00 pm at the centre’s stage, accompanied by Egyptian pianist Mina Nabeel. The event is part of the Muharraq-based centre’s cultural season, being held this year under the inspiring theme “Bounc to Hope”. Thirty people will be allowed to attend the musical recital in compliance with mandatory precautionary measures – including social distancing and mask wearing. The prominent Egyptian artist is recipient of the first prize at the international competition of Orvieto, in Italy. She started her career as a member and soloist at the Cairo Opera company in 1997 with her first leading role in Rossini’s Opera Il Barbiere di Siviglia in 1998. She then moved to France but she continued to perform in Cairo Opera, as well as other renowned European stages.
