Matches of QNB Stars League Week 19 Kick Off Thursday

Doha, March 11 (QNA) - The matches of Week 19 of the 2020-21 season QNB Stars League will kick off on Thursday. Al Rayyan face Al Arabi in Week 19 of the 2020-21 season QNB Stars League at the Al Sadd Stadium on Friday. Both Al Rayyan and Al Arabi are strong competitors, with many titles to their credit, and have passionate fan following. Al Rayyan had climbed from fourth to third position with 31 points after they defeated Al Ahli 3-1 in Week 18. The Lions have registered nine victories, four draws and five defeats, and have a goal difference of +9 (25 goals for and 16 against). Al Arabi too improved their position, from seventh to sixth, with 26 points after defeating Qatar SC 1-0 in Week 18. The Dream Team have the same number of points as Al Ahli, but are placed ahead on better goal difference (-2 as against Al Ahlis -9). Al Arabi have registered seven victories, five draws and six defeats, and have scored 22 goals and conceded 24. Al Rayyan and Al Arabi had played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg of 2020-21 season QNB Stars League. On Thursday, Al Sailiya face Al Duhail in Week 19 at the Al Ahli Stadium. Al Sailiya had kept the eighth place in the standings with 23 points despite losing 0-1 to Al Wakrah in Week 18. The Peregrines, coached by Sami Trabelsi, have recorded six wins and five draws while they suffered seven defeats. They have a goal difference of -10 (19 goals for and 29 against). Al Duhail, under Sabri Lamouchi, are placed second with 37 points and they would like to keep the runners-up spot intact, having lost out to Al Sadd in this seasons league title fight. The Red Knights, who beat Al Kharaitiyat 2-0 in Week 18, have registered 12 victories, one draw and five defeats, and their goal difference is +21 (43 goals for and 22 against). Al Sailiya had beaten Al Duhail 2-1 in the first leg of 2020-21 season QNB Stars League. Al Kharaitiyat face Umm Salal in Week 19 at the Al Ahli Stadium on Thursday. Al Kharaitiyat's woes further compounded as they fell into a more precarious position after losing to Al Duhail (0-2) in Week 18, their 16th defeat. The Thunders are rooted to the bottom of the table with only six points, eight less than 11th-placed Al Khor with four rounds to be played. Al Sadd, coached by Spanish great Xavi Hernandez, became champions with 50 points (16 victories and two draws), and have a goal difference of +57 (69 goals for and 12 against). Al Wakrah, under the tutelage of Marquez Lopez, had improved their ranking by one place to ninth with 18 points after they beat Al Sailiya 1-0 in Week 18. The Blue Wave have recorded five victories, three draws and 10 defeats to have a goal difference of -14 (14 goals for and 28 against). Al Sadd had beaten Al Wakrah 4-1 in the first leg of 2020-21 season QNB Stars League. Al Khor face Qatar SC in Week 19 at the Qatar SC Stadium on Friday. Al Khor, who lost 1-3 to Al Gharafa in Week 18, are placed 11th with 14 points. The Knights had avoided the direct relegation threat with a 2-1 victory over fellow strugglers Al Kharaitiyat in Week 16 and a 1-1 draw with Al Sailiya in Week 17. Al Khor, whose coach is Winfried Schefer, have registered three victories, five draws and 10 defeats, and have a goal difference of -24 (14 goals for and 38 against). Qatar SC had slipped from third to fifth place after losing 0-1 to Al Arabi in Week 18 as they stood on 28 points. Younes Ali's wards have recorded eight wins, four draws and six defeats, and have a goal difference of +9 (26 goals for and 17 against). The Kings will look to put behind a slump in their form and get back to the top-four bracket with a victory even as Al Khor will be keen to collect points and move away from the danger zone. Al Gharafa had slipped from fourth to fifth spot after losing 1-2 to Al Duhail in Week 17. Al Ahli, on the other hand, had lost one place after losing to Al Rayyan (1-3) in Week 18. They are currently placed seventh with 26 points. The Brigadiers, coached by Nebojsa Jovovic, have registered eight wins, two draws and eight defeats, and their goal difference is -9 (22 goals for and 31 against). Both Al Gharafa and Al Ahli have rich history and tradition in Qatar football. They enjoy huge fan base as well. All that will make it a match to watch.
