Handball: Al Wakra Battles Past Al Ahly

Doha, March 23 (QNA) - Al Wakra battled past Al Ahly 26-24, in the eighth round of the men's handball league. Al Wakra was leading comfortably 17-12 after the end of the first half. Yet they had to fend-off Al Ahly's comeback to earn their 19th point of the season so far. They currently sit in second place, two points behind Al Arabi. Al Ahly meanwhile are in sixth place with 15 points. In another game, Al Rayyan leapfrogged Al Ahly in the standings after beating Al Khor 26-21. They now sit in fifth place even though they are level on points with Al Ahly. Al Khor meanwhile are 10th having collected only six points. In a third match, Al Gharafa eased past Qatar 38-27. The match was a struggle for Qatar throughout as they trailed 11-21 after the end of the first half. The win keeps Al Gharafa in the title chase with 19 points, while Qatar sit ninth at the other end of the table with eight points. (QNA)
