SEA President welcomes cooperation with Morocco in renewable energy

Manama, Mar. 25 (BNA): President of the Sustainable Energy Authority (SEA), Dr. Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza, today received the Moroccan Ambassador to Bahrain, Mustapha Benkhayi, who was accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Moroccan Embassy, Mohammed Farhan.
Dr. Mirza lauded Morocco’s contributions to the global shift to sustainable energy thanks to the interest of its leadership and government in supporting efforts to sustain and diversify energy sources.
He cited Morocco’s ambitious renewable energy goals, noting that the country aims to increase its renewable energy production from 42% of the total energy mix now to 50% in 2030 and 100% by 2050.
SEA President praised the depth of relations between the two brotherly countries, which, he said, has contributed to enriching bilateral cooperation in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
Dr. Mirza gave a video presentation about the achievements of the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector in the kingdom, stressing the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two brotherly countries and building partnerships between the relevant institutions.
He discussed with the ambassador the prospects for joint cooperation and opportunities for exchanging experiences and investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, particularly regarding the possibilities of availing from Morocco’s achievements in benefiting from the technologies and uses of green hydrogen for storing energy, which is one of initiatives that SEA aims to adopt as one of the clean energy storage solutions in Bahrain.
The Moroccan Ambassador expressed delight at the progress made by Bahrain in the field of sustainable energy.
He expressed his country's readiness to broaden its cooperation with the kingdom in the sustainable energy-related fields, through cooperation between Bahrain’s Sustainable Energy Authority and Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy.
