Standard Chartered Bank launches “SC Women in Tech Bahrain – cohort 2”

Manama, Apr. 3 (BNA): Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) has announced the launch of the “SC Women in Tech Bahrain – cohort 2”, in cooperation and coordination with the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) and the Bahrain FinTech Bay. The programme aims to support female entrepreneurs and women-led new companies in Bahrain. On the occasion, SCW member, HH Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa said that the launch of the second edition of the “SC Women in Tech Bahrain” follows the success of the first edition, and reflects the partners’ determination to continue developing the programme, as part of the SCW’s keenness to support Bahraini women’s participation in various development fields, including entrepreneurship in the digital field, which is an essential pillar of the National Gender Balance in the Field of Future Sciences. SCB’s Chief Executive Officer, Abdulla Abdulrazaq Bukhowa, stressed the Bank’s commitment to implementing the equal opportunities and gender balance principles, expressing pride in launching the second edition of the programme. Bukhowa indicated that the programme aims to support new companies led by women in Bahrain, through providing an incubator for them. Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain FinTech Bay, Khalid Dannish, expressed pride in the launch of the programme’s second edition, based on the outstanding success of last year’s edition. Khalid Dannish asserted that the “SC Women in Tech Bahrain” programme will provide a platform for female entrepreneurs to showcase their skills and accelerate the implementation of their projects. The “SC Women in Tech Bahrain” programme will focus on 10 shortlisted female-led businesses by offering them the chance to take part in an 8-week workshop, where they will have access to subject matter experts. These experts will help these businesses scale up and equip them with the necessary skills to thrive in today’s business environment. Once the 8-week workshop is completed, the 10 shortlisted businesses will have to pitch their ideas/concepts along with their business plans to a panel of judges, who will select the top 5 winners. The top-5 winners will receive $10,000 each along with three months of residency at the Bahrain FinTech Bay.
