BRCS participates in GCC workshop on humanitarian work

Manama, Apr. 4 (BNA): The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) participated in a workshop entitled "Humanitarian work and Media" in the GCC states, organised by the Kuwait Red Crescent Society through video conference, with the participation of the regional delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross for the GCC states and The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) delegation in GCC. The workshop, which lasted for three days, discussed the vital role of the media in serving humanitarian causes, supporting the efforts of national societies, and dealing with some activities and files of common interest, such as international humanitarian law, disaster management, safe communication, and many others. The workshop addressed the most useful methods in formulating media content and how to display them through various media channels to achieve its purpose in line with the best practices in the world, with a focus on the role of social media platforms that contributed to opening a broader space for the humanitarian work sector. Dr. Fawzi Amin, Head of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies delegation in the GCC, and member of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society said during the workshop that the initiatives of the National Societies help to strengthen the links between the societies to exchange knowledge and experiences, thus stimulating the improvement of the performance of all societies. “We are still suffering the repercussions of COVID-19 pandemic, and for the first time in history, the whole world is facing a humanitarian catastrophe, so this epidemic will not disappear unless all international efforts are united together. Moreover, GCC states have proven that they are capable of controlling this virus through the measures undertaken to slow its spread” Dr. Amin added. Member of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, Sawsan Al-Aradi, stated during the workshop that the society's media work depends primarily on spreading the principles of humanitarian and volunteer work and spreading awareness of the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, using various media channels, and aiming to promote Bahrain's reputation as a leader in the field of relief and humanitarian work.
