Speaker discusses cooperation with Egyptian counterpart

Manama, Apr. 11 (BNA): Speaker Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal held a phone call with Speaker of Egypt’s House of Representatives Chancellor Dr. Hanafi Ali Jebali. They discussed ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation, and support economic and investment projects between the two countries. The speaker praised the historical relations between Bahrain and Egypt, and the continuous growth it is witnessing in all fields, under the constant care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi of Egypt. She pointed out to the important role Egypt’s plays in supporting the Arab and Islamic issues, preserving Arab national security, and supporting joint action. Zainal stressed Bahrain’s position in supporting Egypt and preserving its national and water security. The two parties agreed to activate the work of the joint parliamentary brotherhood committees, to continue coordination in support of the interests of the two countries, in the various regional and international parliamentary forums, to open broad horizons for parliamentary cooperation between members and the General Secretariat. Chancellor Dr. Jebali congratulated the Speaker on her appointment as parliamentary group representative of the Arab Group in the High-Level Advisory Group on Combating Terrorism and Extremism in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). He stressed that her position represents a confirmation of what the people of the Kingdom have achieved that qualify them to occupy high international positions, which places Bahrain in its deserved position internationally.
