Interior Minister holds virtual meeting with US Secretary of Homeland Security

Manama, Apr.15 (BNA): Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa held today a virtual meeting with the United States Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. Chief of Public Security Lieutenant-General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan and Bahrain Ambassador to the US Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa attended. The minister of Interior hailed the distinguished relationship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States and their mutual dedication to developing ties to promote the two friendly countries' interests. He highlighted the importance of reinforcing the exchange of security experiences and expertise and memorandums of understanding between the two sides to promote cooperation. The meeting reviewed methods to develop homeland security cooperation and coordination, building capabilities, and future cybersecurity cooperation projects to promote joint efforts in facing current security challenges. The US side proposed the signing of two agreements between the two countries in the areas of cybersecurity and human trafficking. The meeting also discussed security topics of mutual interest.
