Information Minister mourns Egyptian journalist

Manama, Apr. 15 (BNA): Minister of Information Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi has mourned journalist Makram Mohammed Ahmed, the Egyptian former Chairman of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR), who passed away today aged 86 after a long battle with the disease and an honorable march in serving the Arab media and press. The Information Minister paid homage to late Makram Mohammed Ahmed, stressing that with his death, the Egyptian and Arab media and press community has lost a national press symbol and an icon in responsible media work. He recalled his historical stances over more than six decades in defending his nation as well as the Arab and Islamic issues when leading the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate, the SCMR, the Federation of Arab Journalists and many Egyptian newspapers and magazines. The Minister of Information extended sincere condolences to the family of late Makram Mohammed Ahmed, praying to Allah Almighty to bless the deceased with mercy, rest his soul in vast paradise and provide his family with patience and fortitude.
