Bahrain's BTECH becomes WITSA member

Manama, Apr. 19 (BNA): The Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH) has joined the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA). BTECH said that it had received a letter from WITSA management, confirming its choice as the only official representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain in WITSA thanks to the major role it has played in advancing the information and communication technology in Bahrain and the region, since its establishment in 2012. BTECH Chairman, Ubaydli Ubaydli, stated that BTECH’s membership in such a prestigious world alliance for information technology provides the Kingdom with a suitable platform for a greater contribution to leading the change and development of the information and communication technology industry at the international level, especially as this industry has become the main engine of the global economy. It will also provide a platform for the kingdom to contribute to developing international public policies in information and communication technology industry. Ubaydli emphasised that as WITSA member, BTECH will focus on promoting Bahraini information and communication technology companies and the services and products they provide. BTECH will also highlight the major strides taken by Bahrain to speed up digital transformation and knowledge-based economy, attract more qualitative technical investments, and continue to build capacities in this field. Established in 1978, the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) is a leading consortium of ICT industry association members from over 80 countries/economies around the world. WITSA’s members represent more than 90 percent of the world ICT market.
