Speaker: Highlighting human rights achievements is priority in parliamentary diplomacy

Manama, Apr. 21 (BNA): Council of Representatives Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal said that highlighting the human rights achievements in Bahrain is a priority in parliamentary diplomacy.
The focus should be on the comprehensive progress and development in human rights within the comprehensive development process of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, she said during a virtual meeting with the parliament's delegation to the 142nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and related meetings to be held online in May.
The Speaker praised the qualitative projects, initiatives and programs in Bahrain to enhance the culture of human rights and to strengthen the efforts made by the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in support of human rights in various fields.
Strengthening and developing the methodology for parliamentary diplomacy is a common objective for both the Council of Representatives and the Shura Council, the two chambers of the parliament.
There is continuous coordination and integration between the two councils with an overarching goal to boost Bahrain's status and to show the comprehensive achievements in parliamentary democracy and the human rights field, she said.
