Al-Watan Condemns Israeli Occupation Escalation Against Palestinian People

Doha, May 05 (QNA) - Al-Watan newspaper condemned in an editorial on Wednesday the escalation of crimes done by the Israeli occupations against the Palestinian people, especially those related to the settlement expansion through seizing homes and properties, stressing that these crimes gravely threaten the chances of achieving peace according to the international references, foremost among which is land for peace and the principle of the two-state solution.
It pointed out the necessity of implementing the relevant UN resolutions, particularly Resolution no. 2334.
The newspaper mentioned that these crimes would not have reached their current status if the international community had not been fundamentally inactive in implementing the decisions it agreed upon, and had it not been negligent in holding Israel accountable for the crimes it committed, especially settlement in all its forms which is considered a crime as serious in its level as war crimes and crimes against humanity, adding that the State of Palestine referred these crimes to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for official investigation and asked it to rapidly take action and investigate them, as well as other crimes of the occupation and settlers.
Al-Watan said that the occupation authorities have revealed three new colonial settlement plans to build 393 new settlement units in the occupied West Bank on an area estimated at 432 dunams in Al Khader and Ramin villages, and ad-Dhahiriya city, in addition to the forced displacement operations in the occupied Jerusalem, especially in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Jarrah, Silwan, Aghwar and many other areas.
At the end of its editorial, Al-Watan called on the United Nations Security Council to assume its legal and moral responsibilities to ensure a complete ban on building settlements in the occupied territories to stop confiscating land and to ensure that what was confiscated is returned to its legitimate owners.
