Industry Minister participates in UNWTO Regional Committee meeting

Riyadh, May 27 (BNA): Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Board Chairman of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA), and his accompanying delegation participated in the 47th meeting of the Regional Committee of the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), which is hosted by Riyadh on May 26 and 27. The meeting is chaired by the UAE with the participation of UNWTO Secretary General, Zurab Pololikashvili, a number of Ministers of Tourism from the Middle East and representatives of the committee’s member states. Al Zayani stressed the importance of the meeting, which convenes at a time the region is undergoing major changes, in solving problems facing the tourism sector in the Middle East and mapping out joint strategies to boost the sector. The meeting cast light on issues pertaining to the tourism field, including mainly 2020-2021 action plan, discussing regulating criteria of protocols in the Middle East and designating the host country of the World Tourism Day 2023.
