Hanwha L&C starts mass producing solar-cell film

SEOUL, May 11 (Yonhap) -- Hanwha L&C Corp., a South Korean maker of construction
materials, said Monday it has started mass production of a key solar-cell panel
part using its own technology.

Hanwha L&C plans to increase its annual production capacity of the so-called Eva
film, used to encapsulate solar-cell panels, to 12,000 tons by 2011 from the
current 3,000 tons, the company said in a statement.
"We aim to become one of leading makers of Eva film by 2011," said an official at
Hanwha L&C. The company plans to capture a 10 percent of the global market by
then, according to the statement.
Currently, two Japanese firms, Mitsui and Bridgestone, hold about a half of the
global market for the solar-cell part.
