Al-Watan Notes Significant Decrease in COVID-19 Infections

Doha, June 12 (QNA) - Qatari newspaper Al-Watan noted in its editorial Saturday the significant decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases in the State of Qatar to less than 100 infections per day within the community. The paper said that the decrease of daily infections rate in the State was the result of abiding by the restrictions imposed by the State to control the spread of the pandemic, and the increasing vaccination rate, coupled with the unparalleled support of the public. However, Al-Watan underlined the importance of taking the utmost caution, as the second wave of the pandemic is still present, especially with the outbreak of two mutated strains of the virus in the country that are considered more virulent and faster spreading. The paper reiterated that adhering to the precautionary measures and procedures aims at protecting members of society and ensuring that this pandemic is contained, adding that the decline in daily infection should be a reason for more caution, not an excuse for inaction.
